Learn Indian rummy rules, pure sequence, impure sequence, sets, scoring and how 13 card rummy is played.
What is Indian Rummy?
Indian Rummy is a 13-card game where players form valid sequences and sets. The goal is to arrange all 13 cards into at least two sequences, one of which must be a pure sequence (no joker).
Pure Sequence vs Impure Sequence
| Sequence Type | Example | Joker? |
|---|---|---|
| Pure Sequence | 5♥ 6♥ 7♥ | No |
| Impure Sequence | 8♦ 9♦ Joker | Yes |
Sets
A set is three or four cards of the same rank but different suits, e.g., K♠ K♥ K♦. Jokers can be used in sets.
13 Card Rummy Scoring
Points are calculated based on unarranged cards. Face cards (K, Q, J, A) carry 10 points each; number cards carry their face value.
